The House of Hope did not begin with a strategic plan. It began with a person who had seen enough suffering to know that silence was not an option — and enough faith to believe that one foundation could change the trajectory of thousands of lives.

One Person's Conviction,
A Community's Transformation
Battiston Lyonga grew up witnessing the gap between potential and opportunity in Cameroon. Educated and established in the United States, he carried with him a deep sense of responsibility — not just to his own family, but to the communities that shaped him.
In 2015, he channelled that responsibility into action. The Battiston Lyonga Foundation — House of Hope — was registered as a non-profit with a clear mandate: create pathways out of poverty for youth, address food insecurity, and bring healthcare to those who cannot access it.
What began as a one-man mission has grown into a structured organisation with a Board of Directors, programme staff, community volunteers, and an international network of supporters who share the same conviction: that hope, properly organised, changes everything.
A Decade of Growing Impact
The Foundation is Born
Battiston Lyonga registers the Foundation in the United States, driven by a conviction that diaspora communities can be a force for structural change back home in Cameroon.
First Youth Programme Launches
The inaugural Youth Development cohort begins in Yaoundé — providing mentorship, skills training, and educational support to 40 young people in the Ngousso neighbourhood.
Hunger Alleviation Expands
Responding to food insecurity worsened by the Anglophone crisis, the Foundation launches its Hunger Alleviation programme, distributing food parcels and supporting smallholder farmers.
Rural Healthcare Initiative
Partnering with local health workers, the Foundation begins mobile health outreach in underserved rural communities — bringing basic diagnostics, maternal care, and health education.
Governance & Board Strengthened
A formal Board of Directors is constituted with leaders from law, healthcare, education, and community development — bringing rigour, accountability, and strategic depth.
Digital Presence & Global Reach
The Foundation relaunches its digital platform, expands its volunteer network internationally, and begins structured reporting to donors and the public.
